Introducing Plaky API: Integrate Your Workflow Across Multiple Tools

Now you can use a public API to connect Plaky with other tools that you use on a daily basis and integrate them into your workflow.
You don’t have to be a software developer to generate API keys! Read on to discover how to use this feature.
What is API?
Public API (Application Programming Interface) is a set of protocols that allows Plaky to communicate and exchange data with other apps.
Why is API important?
Public API transforms Plaky into an extendable tool that you can connect to other tools you use.
Here’s what you can manage:
- Users, teams, spaces, and boards — search and retrieve details.
- Items — create, edit, and remove items, as well as change field values.
- Item comments — create, edit, and remove comments or reply to existing ones.
- Comment reactions — add or remove multiple reactions on comments.
- Item files — upload and list files, and get download links.
Let’s go over some use cases that illustrate why API integrations matter.
Bug reporting workflow automation
Software developers can connect their technical environment with a project management board in Plaky.
For example, when a bug is detected or a "bug" label is added to an issue, a new task in your "Bug Tracking" board can be automatically generated.
Custom fields like "Severity", "Environment", and "Source Link" can also be filled in so that developers get the context they need right away.
Sales pipeline automation
Sales teams can connect their CRM tool with Plaky and automate the transition from a "Won" deal to a project board.
When you mark a deal as "Closed-Won" in your CRM, an item or subitem can be automatically created in your “Client Onboarding” board.
The integration can transfer client details, contract values, and deadlines from the CRM into Plaky's custom fields. This way, the team immediately has all the correct information at their disposal.
Integrated communication
Teams that work closely with stakeholders via chat channels can connect those channels with Plaky and integrate feedback within Plaky tasks.
You can set up the integration so that when a stakeholder provides feedback, a new comment is created on a Plaky item.
If the team reacts or replies to these comments, these updates can be synced back into the chat channel, where the stakeholders can see them.
This system lets both parties stay in the loop and never miss an update. You also won’t have to grant external collaborators access to your Plaky boards.
Who can enable API in Plaky?
This feature is available to all existing and new Plaky users. Owners, Admins, and Members can manage API keys in Plaky.
