Introducing Catch Up: Keep Up With All Your Unread Messages

Updates Featured Image

Sifting through all the unread messages that have piled up while you were on vacation or sick has never been easier thanks to Pumble’s new Catch Up feature.

Catch Up is a mobile-exclusive feature for Android and iOS users that stacks all unread Pumble messages like a deck of cards and lets you quickly swipe through them.

Prioritize important messages

Being able to quickly mark messages as read/unread or immediately reply to them lets you focus on important conversations and updates without having to open every Pumble channel you’re in.

It allows you to prioritize important messages without forcing you to reply to everything at once.

Clear notification clutter

Notification icons are a distraction in their own right for many users. Pumble lets you ignore this distraction and focus on deep work thanks to the Set yourself as away feature, but that just means you’ll return to more piled-up notifications when your deep work session is done.

With the Catch Up feature, you can quickly go through these notifications and then move on with your day.

How to use Catch Up

The Catch Up button only appears at the top of the Home/Channel list when you have at least one unread message. If you’re all caught up, the Catch Up option won’t be there to distract you unnecessarily.

Tapping the Catch Up button opens up the feature UI instantly. This will show you a stack of notification cards, each containing:

  • The name of the Channel or DM sender,
  • A snippet of the last unread message,
  • Its timestamp, and
  • Contextual badges (such as whether you were mentioned).

You’ll also see a counter showing how many cards you have left to go through before you’re all caught up with Pumble notifications.

Within this UI, you can take the following actions:

  • Swipe right to mark the message as read (or press the Mark as read button).
  • Swipe left to keep the message unread (or press the Keep unread button).
  • Tap the card to open the full conversation and quickly answer important messages. Pressing Back will return you to where you left off in your Catch Up queue.
  • Press Undo to bring the last card back to the top of the stack, reverting its status in case you accidentally marked it as read.

Catch Up works with add-ons too

A lot of Pumble add-ons work as integrations between it and other tools you use in your day-to-day.

How many add-ons you can install on your workspace depends on your subscription tier, though the Pumble-Clockify and Pumble-Plaky add-ons don’t count toward this quota.

This means all users can install these add-ons and then use the Catch Up feature to check for approval of their PTO and timesheets, as well as Plaky card changes and mentions.

So, you can use the Catch Up feature to stay up-to-date with not just Pumble channels and DMs, but also changes made across tools integrated with Pumble.
