WORLDWIDE (April 21, 2026) — Clockify, the most popular time tracking tool in the world, is introducing updates to its Free plan in April, changing the number of seats and available features for its current and future customers. 

Why are we changing Clockify’s Free plan? 

As costs of maintaining a global infrastructure for an unlimited number of free users grow, CAKE.com, which is a 100% bootstrapped company, is focusing on remaining innovative and delivering quality service to our main investors — our paid plan customers. 

In turn, this enables us to maintain a great Free plan for smaller teams who aren’t yet in need of more powerful features our generous paid plans unlock.

Staying bootstrapped means that we at CAKE.com will be able to maximize Clockify’s further development to build new and innovative features customers have asked for, while ensuring the highest level of quality and security CAKE.com products are known for.

What does this mean for Clockify’s customers?

Once part of the Free plan, the following features will now be moved to Clockify’s paid plans: 

  • Kiosk, 
  • Billable hours, 
  • Limited users,
  • Shared reports,
  • Project time estimates, and
  • CSV/Excel report export.

Additionally, the following features will be limited: 

  • Number of users — The Free plan will support up to 5 users. 
  • Webhooks — The Free plan will support 3 webhooks per workspace. 
  • API rate limit — 30 requests will be accepted per hour per workspace. 
  • Creation permissions — The option to create permissions will be set to Everyone by default.
  • Report date range filter — Users will be able to filter the date range for up to a month.
  • Project access — Project access will be Public by default, as the option to make projects private has now been moved to paid plans. 

The existing paid plan users will not be affected by this change.
