The CAKE.com Women in Tech Report contains extensive findings from the women in tech survey conducted between July and October 2024. Its main purpose was to explore:

  • The experiences of women in the tech industry,
  • The common challenges they face, and
  • The workplace benefits that could increase their job satisfaction.

This report serves to empower women to have more faith in themselves to choose a career they're passionate about.

Flexibility is key to female job satisfaction

75.12% of women see remote and hybrid working options as a key workplace benefit. Furthermore, flexible working hours are the most important benefit for 64.98% of females in tech.

Women are satisfied with the state of their work-life balance

As many as 77.77% of women are satisfied with their ability to balance personal and professional commitment. Out of them, 30.43% are very satisfied, and 47.34% are somewhat satisfied with their work-life balance.

Women struggle with career advancement

Lack of growth and career advancement is the #1 reason women would leave their tech jobs. Difficulties with career progression are among the most common challenges of women in general, as 45.41% of them have faced this problem in their careers.

Women lack the confidence to pursue a tech career

When asked why women decide against working in tech, 55.07% of women stated a lack of confidence. The lack of confidence could be imprinted from childhood, as 48.79% of females believe early childhood misconceptions are the reason why women opt out of tech careers.
