{"id":2718,"date":"2024-07-24T13:00:25","date_gmt":"2024-07-24T13:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cake.com\/blog\/?p=2718"},"modified":"2026-02-19T10:16:33","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T10:16:33","slug":"workplace-culture-work-life-balance-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cake.com\/blog\/workplace-culture-work-life-balance-report\/","title":{"rendered":"2024 State of Workplace Culture and Work-Life Balance Report"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In June 2024, CAKE.com conducted a study on workplace culture, employee work-life trends, and demographic attitudes to work.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over 8,800 users of CAKE.com tools \u2014 Clockify, Pumble, and Plaky \u2014 were invited to participate in a number of questions arranged based on the type of software they were using.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s go over some of the key survey findings based on 3 major workplace topics.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"work-life-balance\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Work-life balance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The survey examined the state of work-life balance worldwide by analyzing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-normal-font-size\">Overtime work<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-normal-font-size\">Onsite, remote, and hybrid work environments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"gen-z-is-the-least-likely-to-work-overtime\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gen Z is the least likely to work overtime<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The data showed that both worldwide and in the US, Gen Z (18-24 age group) is least likely to log overtime hours.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, only 29.98% of the Baby Boomers (55-64 years) work a 40-hour workweek. Still, most US workplaces don\u2019t use more than 2 AI products.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" incorporated holistically remains lower than predicted.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"many-managers-believe-ai-can-make-their-work-easier\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Many managers believe AI can make their work easier<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As many as 45% of managers who participated in the study believe AI has the ability to increase efficiency and productivity.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The list below shows the percentages of managers who highlighted specific benefits of AI:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-normal-font-size\">Improving decision-making: 24%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-normal-font-size\">Enhancing communication and collaboration: 12%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-normal-font-size\">Automating tasks: 12%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, 7% of managers think AI doesn\u2019t have a clear benefit or are still unaware of them.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"workplace-communication\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Workplace communication<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The workplace communication portion of the study explored 2 main communication aspects:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-normal-font-size\">The tone of voice communicated through messaging platforms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-normal-font-size\">The use of emojis at work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"leaders-prefer-a-friendly-tone-for-online-communication\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Leaders prefer a friendly tone for online communication<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>More than three-quarters of leaders worldwide (75.25%) opt for<strong> <\/strong>a friendly tone of voice when communicating through messaging apps such as Pumble (included in the <a href=\"https:\/\/cake.com\/bundle\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/cake.com\/bundle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CAKE.com Bundle<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are other tones leaders use:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-normal-font-size\">Formal\/Organized: 13.86%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-normal-font-size\">Stern\/Blunt: 6.93%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li
